How To Have A POSITIVE ATTITUDE

The Gym TRX class starts at 11am on Sunday and two people walk in at 11:15 and their body language was such that they didn’t even look apologetic for being late. Despite being told that they are late and they can’t enter the class, they stomp in, ignoring the instructor’s request.

Eric who has just taken over as the Asia-Pacific sales head for his company, tells the new intern in his team that he has to get Eric’s breakfast sharp at 8 am daily.

If I can’t get that, you can’t get that too! This was Sylvia’s inner thought that was dictating the attitude that she was showing her friend who was looking bewildered.

Be it in sales or in any role, your credibility can be established by how much you know and your accomplishments but what finally allows your reputation to be built is having the right attitude. Click To Tweet

→By shining your own light at the cost of putting someone else’s light off. 😇
→You are not happy for someone else’s success. 😕
→You take the credit for the work done by someone else.😼
→Giving orders instead of asking questions.😮
→Having misplaced apprehensions and lack of trust on your colleagues.😏
→You don’t share information. 🙊
→You are authoritative and rude.😾
→You don’t listen to others. 🙉

Attitude is to
1. Present a positive mindset towards self and others
2. Maintain control of your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, words and actions.
3. Remain consistent and composed under pressure
4. Keep our ego in check.

ATTITUDE also can be seen as:

1. Amicable – always begin in a friendly way. Know when to speak up, when to be silent and when to walk away.
2. Tone – friendly and appreciative tone. Not a critical and condemning tone. If the situation demands that you be assertive be assertive but not arrogant or demeaning.
3. Timely - time is of essence in every walk of your life. You reveal your character by not respecting another person’s time. Not living up to your word reveals your bad attitudeClick To Tweet.
4. Integrity – you examine your own attitude to see if you are stuck in a paradigm. No matter what the challenge is, how can we control whom we choose to show up as? Click To Tweet
5. Treatment – Try to stay away from being judgmental. Each of us walks our own lives and only we know what we are experiencing. Sometimes our lives throw us a curve ball that may cause us to temporarily become someone other than who we really are. Don’t treat another person any different from how you would like to be treated.
6. Understanding – we all have our moments of pain, and feeling overwhelmed. Understanding and seeing another person’s perspective is the essence of such moments. Click To Tweet
7. Disposition – our character is tested when we are faced with challenging & adverse situations. Let it be one that is likable and a true revelation of your character.
8. Emulate – let our behaviors be one worth copying.
